PINEHURST VILLAGE

President's Message - August 2010

(re-printed from Aug - Sep edition of News & Views)

In 2004, Helen and I chose to live in Pinehurst Village because we heard that the community was well organized and governed by very interesting and self-sacrificing homeowners. Due to recent medical reasons I no longer can play golf 6 days a week. Thus, I have plenty of “retirement time” on my hands.

Last year I submitted my name to be included on the ballot for Board member. Now, as President, I am very fortunate to be associated with fellow Board members and volunteers who have been supportive, co-operative and energetic, both at our meetings and in carrying out certain duties.

This year, we painted everything on the exteriors of 22 villas and re-roofed 12 villas. Mary McCrea and Sue Goff were very helpful while serving on the painting and roofing committees. In 2011, we will paint 18 villas and re-roof 16 villas.

Thankfully, Bobbi Keane and Pat Corkery have volunteered to co-chair the Landscape Committee, assisted by Helen Perrone. They will observe and follow-up on the work done by our contractor, Earthscapes. They will also test the soil on certain problem lawns and will experiment to determine which type of grass will be appropriate for our lawns. They will co-ordinate their research with the Citrus County and University of Florida Extension Services.

Another newly formed committee is the Irrigation Committee. Dick Harper and Ed Glaze have volunteered to serve on this committee. Already they have improved and corrected some of the water sprinkler problems.

Still another newly formed ad hoc committee is a Documents Committee which will work to review our documents and restrictions and make suggestions or reword where necessary. Hopefully, this will add some strength to the enforcement of our covenants and restrictions at Pinehurst Village. Bobbi Keane, Pat Corkery, Linda Deptola, and I will serve on this committee.

Our recycling seems to be working out well. Please try to remember to place something heavy on top of the newspapers so that they don’t blow away. Also, for aesthetic reasons, chairs and other objects should be brought inside at night, and we should wait until Thursday night, or Friday morning before we put our yard clippings out on the edge of the street. At night, cars should be in the garage or parked on the drive way- not on the street.

If we all become more concerned and take more pride in our community, then Pinehurst Village will become a better place in which to live. Remember, if you have any concerns, we invite you to speak at the conclusion of our Board meeting on the 4th Thursday of every month at 9:30 am at the Meadowcrest office.

For those of you who will be traveling north to cooler climates this summer we wish you a safe trip and a peaceful and enjoyable summer.

We welcome our new homeowners:  Bob and Pat Brockman at 6215 W. Lexington Dr.  Maggie Homrighthouse and her mother, Dorothy Cellura, at 6292 W. Lexington Dr.  Kevin and Mary Ann Kelly at 6295 Ww. Lexington Dr. May you all have a happy, healthy and peaceful life here in Pinehurst Village.
